California Online Privacy Protection Act
CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy.
According to CalOPPA we agree to the following:
- Users can visit our site anonymously.
- Once this privacy policy is created, we will add a link to it on our home page, or as a minimum on the first significant page after entering our website.
- Our Privacy Policy link includes the word ‘Privacy’, and can be easily be found on the page specified above.

It’s also important to note that we do not allow third party behavioral tracking.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online. We do not specifically market to children under 13.
Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur. We will notify the users via email:
- Within 7 business days
We also agree to the individual redress principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or a government agency to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
CAN SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.

Google API Services — User Data Policy
Use of Google User Data
Cortex Labs, operated by Cortex LLC(‘we’, ‘us’), integrates with Google services through the Google Ads API. This section describes how we access, use, store, and share data obtained through Google APIs, and supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy.
What we access
When you connect a Google account to Cortex Labs, we ask for your explicit consent through Google’s OAuth 2.0 consent screen. We request the following scope:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords — read and manage the Google Ads accounts you authorise.
Using this scope, we may access advertising account structure and settings, campaign, ad group, ad, keyword and audience configuration, and performance and billing-related reporting metrics for the accounts you connect. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google service.
We never ask for or store your Google account password. Authorisation is handled entirely by Google, and we receive only an access token and a refresh token.
How we use it
We use Google user data solely to provide the features you have asked us to perform on your behalf, namely:
- displaying your advertising performance inside the Cortex Labs interface and in reports we prepare for you;
- creating, editing, pausing, and optimising campaigns and their components at your direction or according to rules you have configured;
- diagnosing errors and providing technical support for the integration.
We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes of our own, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to build user profiles unrelated to the service you requested. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Human access
We do not allow humans to read Google user data, except:
- with your explicit prior consent for a specific case, such as a support request you have opened;
- where it is necessary for security purposes, including investigating abuse or a suspected breach;
- where we are required to do so to comply with applicable law;
- where the data has been aggregated and anonymised so that it can no longer identify you or your account.
Storage and retention
OAuth tokens and any cached Google Ads data are stored on our infrastructure, encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to authorised personnel who need it to operate the service.
We retain Google user data only for as long as your account is connected and the data is needed to provide the service. Cached advertising data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days of the connection being revoked or your account being closed.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade Google user data. We do not transfer it to third parties except:
- to sub-processors that host or operate our infrastructure, bound by contract to equivalent confidentiality and Limited Use obligations;
- when you explicitly direct us to share it, for example by exporting a report;
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
Withdrawing access and deleting your data
You may revoke Cortex Labs’ access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access stops all further data retrieval immediately.
To request deletion of Google user data we already hold, contact us at support@cortexlabs.cloud. We will delete it within 30 days of a verified request, except where retention is required by law.
Limited Use
Cortex Labs’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
